The AN prefix depicts the crew, operations, training, and equipment of the tribal-class destroyer HMCS Athabaskan, pennant number R-79. ATHABASKAN was assigned a new pennant number, 219, from 1949. This tribal-class destroyer (the second RCN warship bearing the name) served from 1947 to 1969 including with Canadian Destroyer Division, Far East, during the Korean War deployments, 1950-1953.

Subjects depicted include: other RCN and foreign ships; ports-of-call visited, shore activities of crew members, weapons and other operational systems; replenishment-at-Sea (RAS); medical treatments onboard.
