In the two b&w films titled "Foxe Basin Expedition" and "Geodetic Survey", expedition members film towns and coastal areas around Baffin Island and Nunavut. Inuit in several communities (present-day Coral Harbour, Pond Inlet, Pangnirtung, Chisasibi, Whapmagoostui, Repulse Bay, Igloolik, etc.) are depicted aiding supply ships and hunting seal, narwhal, and caribou. Polar bears and lemmings are filmed along with thick-billed murre and black guillemot bird colonies.
The expedition had dual purpose of mapping and conducting trials of service clothing under wet conditions. Team members are depicted taking tide gauge readings, measuring glacier formations, measuring storm beach elevations for crustal uplift activity and collecting animal and bird specimens.Provenance:Additional name(s):Biography/Administrative history:Coombs, D.
