TO THE NORTHWEST PASSAGE ON BOARD THE NASCOPIE is an amateur home movie that documents the 1937 Eastern Arctic Patrol and the historic meeting with the "Aklavik" from the western Arctic at Fort Ross.

This film was later used as a lecture film at the National Museum.

Nichols, David A : David A. Nichols was a Canadian geologist born in Newboro, Ontario and trained at Queen's University. One of the century's most active Arctic scientists, Nichols worked for the Geological Survey of Canada from his undergraduate years until retirement in 1944. Nichols was not only a geologist but also trained as a topographer.

In 1937, he was employed by the Bureau of Geography and Topography and member of the Eastern Arctic Patrol. During these patrols, Nichols concentrated on surveying as well as geological and glaciological studies.
