This is why there is material dating from well before Walker began his career (ie. blueprints and drawings of locomotives designed and built in the 19th century).The series is divided into seven sub-series, and further details about these can be found in the attached sub-series records.Additional name(s):Additional information:General note:Material in this series (and attached sub-series) appears to have been collected as working material that assisted Roy Fairbairn Walker during his entire career as a design and mechincal engineer.
When the material is clearly identified as being related to Walker's work for the Grand Trunk Railway or for Canadian National Railways, then this material has been placed in two separate series.
While the outside date states 1830, this is only a date listed on a clipping showing one of the earliest steam locomotives. In general, most of the material in this series dates from the late 19th century onwards.Source:Private -
