Canada. Dept. of the Solicitor General. Office of the Inspector General of the Canadian Security Intelligence Service : The Office of the Inspector General of the Canadian Security Intelligence Service (OIG-CSIS) was established through in 1984 under the terms of sections 30 through 33 of the Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS) Act. According to this legislation, the Inspector General was originally an official within the Department of the Solicitor General with the statutory responsibility of ensuring the compliance of CSIS to the legislatively-established policies and to review CSIS's activities. In 2012 this portion of the CSIS Act was repealed, the Office of the Inspection General was abolished, and the complete responsibility for oversight of CSIS was passed to the Security Intelligence Review Committee.
