Series consists of 12 preliminary sketches of elevations and floor plans, 13 drawings of floor plans and mezzanines, 14 revised drawings of floor plans and mezzanines by Mathers & Haldenby Architects for the National Library and National Archives building on Wellington Street. Series also includes 16 drawings for the National Library-Les Terrasses de la Chaudière site, 1 drawing of the National Library-Multilingual Services area by Consortium Design Int. and 1 architectural rendering of the NL-PA building (author unknown).

Drawings consist of full-scale cartoons by John Hutton for his creation of the etched glass panels integrated into the design of the National Library - National Archives building at 395 Wellington, Ottawa.

Photographs are of the smaller, preparatory drawings, and were likely used to enlarge and project the etching designs onto the larger-scale cartoon paper.

The paintings are preparatory mural studies for the Reference and Reading Rooms of the National Library and National Archives building at 395 Wellington. 'La Connaissance / Knowledge' and 'Les Alphabets / The Alphabets' are by Alfred Pellan, and 'Héritage' and 'Legacy" are by Charles Fraser Comfort.
