In 1964, the Canadian Corporation for the 1967 World Exhibition launched a design competition for the construction of a short-span bridge on Ile Notre Dame. The majority of submissions for the design competition were received by the Engineering Branch of the Department of Installations in December 1964.

This sub-sub-series includes 158 submissions from Canadian and American architectural firms. Each submission includes a project proposal, technical specifications and architectural drawings (sketches, perspective views, cross sections, elevations, etc.) Several architectural drawings are drawn, coloured or painted by hand.

Please note that these submissions are anonymous; three separate files entitled "Affidavit Forms parts 1, 2, and 3, contain the records with the name and address of the bidder, the name and address of those consulted, the nature of any support received by other firms or professionals, and a signed and notarized affidavit confirming the authenticity of authorship for the submitted design.

Transferred to the National Archives of Canada by the Department of Industry, Science and Technology from storage at the Ottawa Federal Records Centre in 1990.
