The inkstand is silver with the English version of the Royal Coat of Arms of the United Kingdom on the lid. There is a flat bail handle on each side of the body and splayed bracket feet at each corner. There is a hinged lid divides the stand that houses two ink pots and a pen tray. Lester B. Pearson received this as a gift from Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip on their visit to Canada in October 1964.
