The series consists of documents the childhood and education of Mr. Menzies, but also includes a few items documenting the early life and education of Ms. Skelton (later Ms. Menzies). Material documenting Mr. Menzies was mainly created in Canada, but also in China (where Arthur Menzies was born), Japan (where he lived in the early 1930s) and the United States (where he studied in the early 1940s). The material provides knowledge about Arthur's interest in the Boy Scouts organization and later the studies of International Affairs, History and Cultures; sports and martial arts (soccer and judo); and especially interesting notes and photographs from his early international trips with his family, called the World Trip Diary - Vol. 10, Files 6-7 (Arthur's two sisters, Annie and Marion Menzies, also wrote memoirs about this journey - they are part of the Family Papers Series, Menzies Sub-series).

The material included in this series consists mainly of textual records. Also included are 11 black and white photographs, 2 medals and 1 painting.
