The fonds consists of 18 pocket diaries documenting the working of Canada's parliament in the era overlapping Confederation. While Storr does make comments on the day-to-day activities in Parliament, most of the work-related entries document his work for Sir Richard John Cartwright.

Storr's diary for 1868 was used as evidence in Patrick Whelan's trial for the murder of Thomas D'Arcy McGee.

The diaries also document social and religious environment of the late 19th century Ottawa.

The fonds also contains three photographs, two of Edward Storr and one of his wife, taken in late 19th century.

Storr, Edward, 1819-1891 : Edward Storr was born in Shelby, Yorkshire, England in 1819 and came to Canada with his parents in 1830. He was apprenticed to a shoemaker in Little York at the age of 15. In 1837, he volunteered for Her Majesty's service. In 1852, he entered the Civil Service as Curator of the Parliamentary Reading Room, a position he held until his death.

Storr was also a local lay preacher for the Wesleyan Methodists and also very active in the temperance movement
