This is a preliminary sub-series. Sub-series consists of promotional and educational films produced or maintained by the National Research Council (NRC).

Sub-series consists of two documentaries on videotape produced by the NRC ("Computer Education," "Thoughts for the future"; local accession no. 1984-0499.) Sub-series also consists of two silent films from 1960 ("Ground effect vehicle," "Test rig: Propellors and snow"; local accession no. 1961-0002), as well as a record of the first commercial trans-Atlantic flight between London and New York via Gander, Newfoundland on July 5, 1937 ("Wings over the Atlantic," local accession no. 1969-0047).

Sub-series also consists of films and newsclips sent by the NRC to television stations on a wide variety of topics, including but not limited to: experimental windmills on the Magdalen Islands (accession no. 1982-0019); the National Solar Test Facility in Toronto (accession no. 1982-0134); rust prevention research (accession no. 1982-0160); scientific explanations for acupucture, automation in agriculture, frozen gas, pollution, fusion laser, wind tunnels in cities, Vitamin E, high speed rail, and the testing of vehicles and propellors (accession no. 1984-0486).

Custodial history:

The films "Ground effect vehicle," "Test rig: Propellors and Snow," and "Wings over the Atlantic" were transferred from the Canadian Film Archives to the Public Archives in 1975.
