Series consists of historical photographs created and/or maintained by the Post Office Department.
The largest photo accession, 1971-076, documents Canadian postal services and various departmental activities starting in 1870, including, but not limited to, different modes of transport employed by the postal service; mail delivery; the organization of the postal service in Bengal and South Africa; and other subjects including Postmasters General and postal carrier uniforms. Photographers include E.M. Finn, A.J. Cater, F.C. Tyrell, J.J. Hisgrove, and Grayston.
This series also contains an engraving of the Universal Postal Union Monument at Berne, Switzerland, originally part of photo accession 1971-076, but later accessioned under 1997-313.Source:Government -
