Additional information:General note:Louis Riel was elected in the February 1874 general election for the electoral district of Provencher, Manitoba. He travelled to Ottawa to sign the Test Roll (register of members) but was expelled before taking his seat, due to a motion in the House of Commons introduced by Ontario Orange Order leader Mackenzie Bowell. Louis Riel was re-elected in September 1874, but he delayed taking his seat and then was again expelled from the House.Availability of other formats note:A black and white photocopy of this document is also available.
