File consists of photographs showing various locations along the CPR Rail line, originally part of an album entitled "To W.C. Van Horne Vice President Canadian Pacific Railway, Views on the Line From Port Arthur West. Compliments of Prof. Buell, New York." Buell, originally from New York State, achieved prominence for a series of views showing military preparations for the Riel Rebellion in 1885. He also photographed construction work on the Canadian Pacific Railway (CPR) in the Rocky Mountains in the summer of 1885. File is split into several parts, and includes photos of prisoners held by Riel at Batoche, Kicking Horse Lake, MG Artillery in Regina, Cascade Mountain, Summit of Selkirks, Columbia Canyon near first tunnel, Farwell on the Columbia River, Departmental Building in Quebec, Totem Poles at Fort Wrangell, Alaska, 1887, Winnipeg from Cauchon Block, views of trestle bridges.
