This sub-series consists of records created by the Grand Trunk Railway Engineering Department and its predecessors. Most of the profile plans relate to areas of Southern, Central, and Eastern Ontario, as well as parts of Quebec.

A number of hand drawn profile plans are by the Canada Air Line Railway, which was amalgamated into the Great Western Railway before being incorporated into the GTR. Also, profile plans for portions of the Georgian Bay and Wellington Railway and Hamilton and North Western Railway are available.

Of interest is an 1858 Profile of the Grand Trunk Railway from Point St. Charles to Kingston.

There are also a number of hand drawn profile plans (some in colour) by the Grand Trunk Railway Engineering Department, some signed with the name Joseph Hobson, of portions of the main line between Toronto and Hamilton, including an area around Oakville Ontario.
