Date :1883-1998.Référence :R5607-300-7-E, MG28-III100Genre de documents :Documents textuelsTrouvé dans :Archives / Collections et fondsNo d'identification :5247345Date(s) :1883-1998.Lieu de création :CanadaÉtendue :9.61 m of textual recordsLangue du document :anglaisPortée et contenu :Data entry of these index cards is in alphabetical order of construction projects produced for Dominion Bridge's customers. They are physically arranged from letters A to XYZ. A letter refers to either the name of a place (town, city, street, etc.), a customer's name (name of a company, name of organization such as school, church, hospital, municipality, government, etc.) or a general names such as Canada, Canadian, Dominion, a province, etc.
The cards classified under general names are also arranged in sub-categories and sub-sub-categories. For example, filed under "Canadian" are 1) cards with labels filed from A to Z and 2) cards further grouped under "Allis-Chalmers-Bullock Co.", "Canadian Amusement Co.", "Canadian Arena Co.", "Canadian Arsenals Ltd.", "Canadian Car foundry Co.", and "Canadian National Railways". Each of these groups might also be further divided into different regions or types of projects (e.g. beams, bridges, coaling stations, cranes, etc.).
The oldest cards produced between 1883 to ca. 1910 contain only a short summary of the project, date of production, and contract no. From the 1910s onwards, Dominion Bridge printed new cards as a form sheet to enter more information. These cards include the date the project was received by the company, contract number, name of purchaser, name of proprietor, name of engineer and/or architect, location, short description, classification of the project, and estimated weight in tons of steel used to produce the project.
Partial information appears often on cards. For instance, the names of the proprietor, purchaser, engineer, and architect are not always written. Please cross-reference the contract number with the catalogues to find more detail about specific projects.Source :PrivéAncien no de référence archivistique :MG28-III100 -
