Each page of contact sheets shows several Army Numerical series photographs. The photographs are arranged both numerically and (roughly) chronologically and depict Canadian Army operations in Italy during the Second World War. The print album was originally used for DND photo reference purposes and may show censor marks, and other notations.Additional information:General note:The prints in this album document Canadian army activities in Italy March 14, 1944 - April 2, 1944. The album includes photographs of General Leese decorating Canadian soldiers, official artists Captain Charles Comfort and Capt. Lawren Harris painting, ships transporting soldiers to Italy, Canadians teaching Indian troops tank tactics, First Canadian General Hospital, Good Friday religious services, CBC War correspondents, and a joint Canadian-American baseball game. Also included in the album are photographs of a Vickers machine gun, transport vehicles, armour, reconnaissance vehicles, anti-aircraft, mobile laundry and bath units, and artillery.Related material:The b&w safety negatives for photographs found in this album (numbers 30718 to 31595) can be found in CANADA.
