This series is among the most important ones in Charles D. Gonthier's archives. It includes the following: diaries; court books; selected judgment files (for the years 1989-1994); the records of all of his law clerks; an abundance of thematic, general and personal correspondence; and his files relating to historical ventures, including the oral history project undertaken by Osgoode Hall, which includes a transcript of his interview for that project.

The files are well organized and detailed. They show the evolution of Charles D. Gonthier's work over time. The voluminous personal and general correspondence provides insight into the private side of his professional activities and his social network.

The series also contains all records of Charles D. Gonthier's visits and meetings, as one of his functions was to receive delegations of foreign judges at the Supreme Court. He also represented Canada at conferences outside the country. These representational functions generated a significant quantity of files and correspondence. Numerous photographs complement the paper files.
