The fonds contains documents primarily related to Renée Vautelet's professional life, including biographical notes, correspondence, personal journals, newspaper clippings, articles, speeches, and memoirs, as well as family documents such as a notebook and a baptismal certificate. The fonds also contains two photographs: one is of a group of participants in a Bar Association golf tournament, probably near Montreal in 1937, and the other is of an unidentified young man (ambrotype).

Vautelet, Renée, 1897-1980 : Renée Vautelet, daughter of Aimé Geoffrion and Rita Thibaudeau, was born in Montreal in 1897. She was the great-granddaughter of Sir A. A. Dorion. Her maternal grandfather was Senator G. R. Thibaudeau and her paternal grandfather was Christophe-Alphonse Geoffrion, a minister in the Laurier cabinet.

In 1945, she was the only female member of the Conseil consultatif économique de la province de Québec, a post-war planning council created by the Government of Quebec to recommend plans for employment and the economy. She also led the Mouvement des consommateurs du Québec as National Francophone Vice-President and Provincial President of Quebec Anglophones.

She worked hard and campaigned for women's right to vote as the National Secretary of the Women's Liberal Federation of Canada. As one of the founding members of the Consumers' Association of Canada, she was the first French-speaking woman to become Chair in 1953.

Ms. Vautelet gave numerous talks on topics such as education, women's and consumers' rights and Canadian nationalism. Still active in 1973, she campaigned against the integration of the police forces of the city of Montreal.
