Scope and content:

This painting by Mauro Arbiza-Fernandez represents the face of Paul Martin in the foreground and the Peace Tower of the Federal Parliament in the background. The rest of the background of the work is black. This painting was offered to Mr. Martin by the Canadian Institute for the Development of the Uruguayan Culture (CIDUC). In 2005, the Ambassador of Uruguay in Canada, Alvaro Moerzinger, and two members of CIDUC handed the painting to Hélène Scherrer, then Principal secretary to the Prime Minister, in the absence of Mr. Martin.
