Fonds consists of a photograph album which documents an educational expedition to Vancouver Island, the site is specifically titled the "Minnesota Seaside Station." The photographs (by unknown photographers, but probably taken by the students of the program) are of coastal landscapes, native peoples, and students conducting their studies.

The specific contents of the album include: Galician settlers and Blackfoot Indians in Calgary, Alberta; Vancouver and its harbour; Victoria and its harbour; Chinese merchants in Victoria; Esquimalt and H.M.S. Amphion in drydock; Port Renfrew, B.C., Siwash Indians, activities and graves; the Research station; and other views of the coastal region.

University of Minnesota : For about 90 years, the University of Minnesota has been sending students and faculty to the Itasca State Park and northern Minnesota to conduct field biology research. The Itasca station opened in 1909, however, it can be traced back to 1893 as the country's first biological station. A temporary seaside station opened on Vancouver Island at the turn of the century.
