Fonds consists of one photograph album (1874-1884) which contains 142 photographs, that may have been compiled by a British Military officer (possibly James Trevelyan Cotesworth). Specific views in the album are of the 19th Regiment on Parade in Halifax, Nova Scotia; views of Halifax and its harbour; Bermuda, Paris, Germany, Sussex and Malta. There are also 3 loose prints which are cyanotypes that document Tilsonburg, Ontario and the construction of the Lake and Pacific Railway bridge (Ottertail Trestle), in 1895.

Biography/Administrative history:

Cotesworth, James Trevelyan : Lieutenant James Trevelyan Cotesworth served with the Yorkshire Regiment of the British Army (specifically in the year 1884), and may have been the creator of this album because he is featured in a portrait of the cricket team in the album. In the album itself there are photographs of anonymous individuals who served in the 19th Regiment of the Princess of Wales' Own, and the 6th Royal Lancashire Militia.

Cotesworth was born in January 1858 and joined the 19th regiment as a 2nd lieutenant in 1879, and became a 1st lieutenant in 1880.
