Includes the following descriptive text on the Hogs Back dam "In May 1828 Messrs P. Wright & Sons undertook to stop the breach and raise the water into the side channel, which was done by forming a wooden Dam of large trees, notched and saddles into each other and pinned leaving a sluice, for the water of the River to pass through, the frame of logs was fitted with Clay, Gravel, and the Sluice way stopped by Planks and Clay, Puddle - a stone wall was also built to protect the end of the Dam from the wash of water passing through the Channel, and the Channel widened.
