Scope and content:

This sub-series (formerly sub-series E I) contains daguerreotypes, ambrotypes and tintypes dated ca. 1850-1880. There are five daguerreotypes of unidentified men and women, one with some gilding; 2 ambrotypes of unidentified girls and women; 3 carte-size tintypes of unidentified people, including one group of three railway employees; 1 tintype of unidentified woman with lip disfigurement, marked "Paret 297 Bowery"; 1 tintype of unidentified locomotive engineer (?) or other work in a man (eyes scratched out); 1 tintype of a locomotive outside a roundhouse; locomotive marked "581, C.S.R.R."; 1 tintype of man in a canoe with boats in background, labelled "One of the first steamboats to run on the Kawartha Lakes. Taken in the locks at Youngs Point"; 1 tintype of Sacramento & Placerville engine No. 2, Folsom, California, c. 1880, together with explanatory letter from E.W. Blair to Erle Heath, Sept. 27, 1940; and 1 tintype of a locomotive of Boston & Albany Railroad, 1870.
