This sub-series (formerly sub-series F VI) contains works by photographers such as H.W. Pontin, James Adams ?, C.E. Fisher, and George M. Sittig and includes views of steam, electric and some diesel locomotives and train cars of a great variety of Canadian and U.S.A. railways, together with a small number of negatives of Mexican railways. Canadian railways represented include Canadian National; Canadian Pacific; Canadian Electric Lines; Northern Alberta; Grand Trunk; Newfoundland Railway; Grand Trunk Western; Sydney & Louisbourg; Maritime Railway; Montreal & Atlantic, and Algoma. Examples of American lines include Central Railroad of New Jersey; Baltimore & Ohio; Boston & Maine; Cape Cod Central; Boston, Concord & Montreal; Rutland; Delaware & Northern; Pennsylvania & Atlantic; Piedmont & Northern; Lakeside Electric; Central of Georgia; Longview, Portland & Northern; Central Pacific; Yosemite Valley; Santa Fe Northwestern; Montana Western; Virginian; Brimstone; Chesapeake & Ohio; New York Westchester & B. Electric; Rio Grande Southern; Sand Springs; Middletown & Unionville; Mojave Southern; Erie; Cleveland, Cincinnati, Chicago & St. Louis; Delaware, Lackawanna & Western; Boston & Albany; New York Central; Central Vermont; Delaware& Hudson; Pennsylvania; and Illinois Central. Some views of railway stations of the above railroads also appear in the sub-series. There are also a small group of negatives labelled absurdities or freaks (e.g. Holman Absurdity, Dudgeon Steam Wagon).

Other topics in the sub-series include small groups of steamers, ocean liners, and other marine vessels, often identified by name, and a small group of personal family snapshots.

Negative envelopes with detailed captions are available for most of the views in this sub-series. Many of the prints are copies of negatives found in other parts of the series (20-25 percent).
