Fonds is the record of a sealing and whaling voyage from Dundee to Newfoundland, Labrador and the Davis Strait made by James W. Allan, ship's surgeon of the Aurora, 2 February and 12 November 1893, 227 pages, including 27 pen sketches and 17 photographs of sealing and whaling scenes drawn and taken by the writer. Also includes copies of correspondence and Dundee Advertiser extracts concerning charges of scurvy resulting from dietary negligence against Henry McKay, master of the Aurora, 1893-94; a short English-Inuktitut vocabulary; and an account of Allan's discovery of relics of the Bjorling Scientific Expedition (Sweden) supposed lost in the summer of 1892, on Carey Island, pages 228-286. This material is located on microfilm reel A-1180.
