Fonds consists of textual records divided into three series as follows: letters written from Duncan Gibb in the Atlantic, York and Adelaide, Upper Canada, 1832-1833, 44 pages; correspondence relating to the activities of Col. Radcliff during the 1837 Rebellion, 1837-1838, 9 pages; and the Memoirs of Stephen E. Radcliff, 1908, 243 pages.

Radcliff (family) : In 1832 the households of Colonel Thomas Radcliff and Major William Radcliffe emigrated to Canada from Ireland. They settled in Middlesex where Thomas founded the town of Adelaide.

Stephen Radcliff (1844-1919) was the son of William Radcliff. Although born on Amherst Island, 22 Feb. 1844, his family returned to Adelaide, Upper Canada when he was five years of age. With the exception of some time spent logging in Michigan, he lived most of his life in southwestern Ontario. He was at various times a farmer, wood-cutter, teamster, lumber scaler, binder twine agent, life insurance salesman and fish vendor. He was also an active Orangeman and a poet of local repute.
