Johnston (volumes 1-4).
Fonds also consists of miscellaneous portraits and family photographs.
Also available are numerous drawings, watercolours, and prints illustrating buildings, floral and fauna.Provenance:Biography/Administrative history:Johnston, William M. (family) : William M. and Catherine Johnston arrived in Canada in 1836 and moved to Masham, Quebec, the following year. Their third son Edward James (1836-1921) was foreman or manager in various lumber companies in the Ottawa Valley before moving to Potsdam, N.Y. He retired to Masham in 1891. George B. Johnston (1845-1923), sixth son of William and Catherine, was at various times a lumberman, photographer, school teacher, clerk, lay preacher, merchant and market gardener. Between 1874 and 1877 he and his brother Robert ran Johnston Bros. General Merchants at Lascelles, Quebec.
