Fonds consists of trade literature on materials and mechanical systems of houses and architectural books on small homes, n.d., 1898-1966.

The fonds contains architectural drawings which pertain to 230 projects, 1904-1960. Most of these projects focus on Renfrew, Ontario and surrounding towns. Drawings show places of residence, schools, churches, stores, business blocks and industrial structures. A small number of drawings focus on Winnipeg and depict homes and banks.

The fonds also contains photographs and postcards related to the life and work of Norman Moffat, [ca.1923]-1955.

Moffatt, Norman McNabb, 1873-1970 : Norman Moffatt was born on 12 November 1873 in Carleton Place, Ontario. He studied architecture for one year at the School of Practical Science, University of Toronto and for four years under the Toronto architect Henry Simpson. The loss of a hand in an accident in 1895 did not deter Moffatt from continuing in architecture. He worked for the New York architects Van Vleck & Goldsmith and in 1900 returned to Toronto to work for Henry Simpson and the firm of Bond & Smith. Moffatt moved to Winnipeg in 1903 to become a draftsman for J.G.H. Russell where he stayed for several years. In 1912-1913 Moffatt was a draftsman for Carter Halls Aldinger Co. Ltd., a large Winnipeg general contractor.

During World War I Moffatt farmed with his brother in Hughton, Saskatchewan. From 1919 to 1925 he was the architect for the Union Bank of Canada in the prairie provinces. When the Royal Bank absorbed the Union in 1925, Moffatt became the bank's architect for the Manitoba District. Probably due to the Depression, Moffatt moved to Renfrew, Ontario in 1933 where he practiced architecture for the next twenty years. He designed and supervised the construction and alteration of residences, schools, churches, stores, business blocks and industrial structures.
