Included is correspondence and diaries written by Jenness while he was a member of the Canadian Arctic Expedition during 1913-1916, as well as exerpts from the publication "The Spike: The Victoria University College Review" which contains an article written by Jenness entitled "Wolf! Wolf!", Photocopy, 63 pages.Provenance:Biography/Administrative history:Jenness, Diamond, 1886-1969 : Diamond Jenness, born in Wellington, New Zealand, earned an M.A. in anthropology from Oxford University. He led an anthropological expedition to Papua New Guinea for Oxford University in 1911-1912. He then joined the Canadian Arctic Expedition of 1913 under Vilhjalmur Stefansson to study the Eskimos of Canada and Alaska. After serving in W.W.I from 1917 to 1919 he joined the staff of the Victoria Memorial Museum in Ottawa, becoming head of the Anthropological Division in 1926. He did much field work among the native peoples of Canada concentrating on anthropological research in the north. An eminent scholar, he published many papers and books one of which, "The Indians of Canada" first published in 1932, is still a standard textbook. He has written numerous works on the Inuit among which are the five on Eskimo Administration published by the Arctic Institute Techical paper series.
Diamond Jenness has received the companionship of the Order of Canada, the Massey medal of the Royal Canadian Geographical Society as well as many honours and awards from universities and learned societies in Canada and abroad.

The typed transcript of the diaries prepared by Dr. Stuart Jenness was presented in 1976 by the Museum of Man.
The correspondence with G.W. von Zedlitz was presented in 1981 by Dr. Stuart Jenness. He presented photocopies from The Victoria University College Reviews in 1984. Other correspondence was presented by him in 1988 and 1990. The manuscript on Eskimo Administration was transferred from the Department of Health and Welfare through Candace Bell in 1982.
Copies of the correspondence of Jenness with Prof. R.R.
