Glyn, Mills and Company : Glyn, Mills & Company of London (now part of the Royal Bank of Scotland) acted as agents, brokers and bankers for the Canadian government and for a number of business firms, railway companies and municipal corporations in the mid-nineteenth century. Glyn, Mills & Co. shared with Baring Brothers the financing of the Grand Trunk Railway.

General note:

The original correspondence was acquired in 1926 under the aegis of Dr. Adam Shortt. The notes on financing of railways (volume 14) were presented in 1954 by Col. G.R. Stevens.

Location of originals note:

Originals are in the possession of Glyn, Mills and Company, London, England.

Availability of other formats note:

The original correspondence (volumes 1-12; pages 67-3930) was microfilmed in 1961 and is available on reels C-1548 to C-1551. Correspondence, 1851 to 1881, from the Government of Canada relating to various aspects of public finance is available on microfilm reels C-1548 to C-1551.
