Brantford Trades and Labour Council : The Brantford Trades and Labour Council was formed in 1892 after several organizational meetings held during that year. The first meeting was instigated at the request of Local 29 of the Iron Moulders' Union, which at that time was one of the most influential unions in the Brantford area. In 1956, the council, also known as the Brantford and District Labour Council, merged with its Canadian Congress of Labour counterpart, the Brantford, Paris and District Labour Council, to form the Brantford Labour Council.
