North Vancouver Centennial Committee : In 1964, under the direction of the Government of Canada, the Mayor of the City of North Vancouver and the Reeve of the District of North Vancouver appointed the North Vancouver Centennial Committee to be responsible for producing a "Celebration Program" for Canada's Centennial in 1967. The N.V.C.C. also planned events to celebrate the Union of Vancouver Island with the mainland in 1866. The Committee aimed to create an environment of "total involvement" in celebrating the Centennial and included numerous other organizations in the North Vancouver community in its planning. The end product of the Committee's work was the SALUTE TO A CENTURY week which lasted from 25 June to 1 July 1967.
