Fonds consists of a Royal Charter incorporating the Trust and Loan Company of Upper Canada, 13 Nov. 1846, parchment, 12 sheets with wax seal. The original is out of circulation and located in horizontal storage, container 2. A transcript is available for research purposes. Photographs of the seal are available, negatives C-4719 and C-47195. There is a bank draft from the Trust and Loan Company of Upper Canada to Archibald McLean, 1852, 1 page, received in 1971; a letter from John A. Macdonald, the company solicitor, in which he suggests methods of expediting loans more efficiently, photocopy, 1852, 4 pages, copied in 1965 from the original held by S. Thomas Swadron of Ottawa, Ont.

Fonds also consists of a cover sheet of the mortgage of David Marr Rymal and his wife, to the Trust and Loan Company of Upper Canada, photocopy, 1852, 1 page, copied in 1967 from the original held by the Rt. Hon. John Diefenbaker, transferred in 1979 from MG 55/24 No. 324; letter to Francis A. Harper, Commissioner of the Trust and Loan Company of Upper Canada, from John A. Macdonald, concerning a transaction involving a Donald McKinnon, photocopy, 1852, 1 page, copied in 1968 from the original held by Mr. J.E. Charlton of Toronto, Ont., transferred in 1979 from MG 55/24 No. 326.
