Item is a journal kept by Henry Connolly recording weather, arrivals, and departures at Fort Rupert (also know as Rupert house). This journal has extensive commentary on movements of Cree communities, hunting, and the conduct of the fur trade in James Bay. This journal was kept by the Hudson Bay company employees on a yearly basis.

Rupert's House : Rupert's House, built in 1668, was the first Hudson's Bay Company fort built on Hudson or James Bays. Located at the mouth of Rupert's River, it was repeatedly fought over by both the French and the English during the years 1686-1713. Finally restored to the Hudson's Bay Company by the Treaty of Utrecht in 1713, it remained an important link in the company's chain of posts.
