The fonds also includes photographic material depicting "Ivy House", Cornwall, Ontario, the residence of John Sandford Macdonald, as well as portraits of various people and family members. In addition there are prints depicting views of Canada. One print is by William Bartlett.Provenance:Additional name(s):Biography/Administrative history:Macdonald, John Sandfield, 1812-1872 : John Sandfield Macdonald, politician (1812-1872). Macdonald was born at St. Rapheal, Upper Canada, and entered politics in 1840. He was a member of the Baldwin-Lafontaine Administration, 1848-1851, speaker of the Assembly, 1852-1854, Prime Minister of the United Canadas,1862-1864, and the first Premier of Ontario, 1867-1871.
