A humorous romp through off-beat sporting events in company with Bill Dana. The theme song, "Look on the Light Side", is played by the New York Rock and Roll Emsemble and Bill Dana introduces the film.~The first stop is West Yellowstone, Montana and snow mobile riding. Seen are races, jumping competitions, spills, and a tour of the mountain slopes to look at wildlife. Dana makes a phone call from a booth in deep snow.~Next is a celebration of Pancake Day in Liberal, West Kansas, home of the International Pancake Race. The chef mixes pancake batter in a cement truck. Shown is the pancake eating contest with the record being 48. The choir of the Cathedral of Olney, England is seen on Shrove Tuesday. Contestants from Olney take part in the pancake celebration.~Dana moves on to the desert expedition of the Phoenix Jeep Club and watches a jeep square dance in the desert, camping, etc.~In Santiago, Dana tries to fly a kite. Shown are children preparing for the annual kite flying, parade, and competition. Dana calls from a flying phone booth.~In Michigan, Dana witnesses ice fishing, a road motor race on ice, and ice-boating. This is contrasted with a bed race in Mobile, Alabama.~Bagpipers, sword dancers, and folk dancers perform in St. Paul, Minneapolis. Peoples of diverse ethnic traditions are represented. The State Capitol is visible in the background.~Finally, Dana visits the Pacific Northwest in early spring. Seen are views of melting snow, mountains, and forests. Men and women are shown building rafts from inner tubes, sailing on the Mackenzie River in Oregon, and negotiating white water and rapids in all kinds of boats and rafts. <58mn 47s>
