Fonds consists of: an album of twenty-six views of Fred J. Claxton's family, including eleven Kodak #1 views taken at Victoria and Bella Bella, British Columbia; views of R.C.P. Co. Cannery, S.S. aboriginal settlements and activities, and aboriginals of Honolulu; identified portraits include Fred J. Claxton, Enid and Violet Claxton, W.J. Coltman, W.H. Anderson, A.S. Robertson, and U. King.

Album containing 47 portraits of the Claxton family and friends: cartes-de-visite taken in Montreal and the UK; tintype and amateur portraits and a view taken at Lake Louise, Alberta; identified portraits include Andrew Robertson (chairman, Montreal Harbour Commission); Mrs. T. James Claxton, T. James Claxton; Mrs. T. James claxton with children, Fred, Alice, Carrie and George; "Tartar" Claxton; Lady Sarah Lambart; Agnes Wilson; Rev. Walter Naish. Photographs are by Notman, J. Inglis, Summerhayes & Walford, W. Notman & Son, Charles A. Candy, P. Devine, Henry W. Salmon.

Two albums containing 98 views taken on Fred J. Claxton's trip to the Klondike, 1898-1899, including views of Chilcoot Pass, Canyon City, Bennett, Taku, Dawson, Fort Selkirk, Bonanza Creek Valley, Yukon River, Lake Le baye, White Pass railway, Bella Bella; Skaguay and Dyea, Alaska. The miner's certificate of Fred J. Claxton is appended to album 4.
