Watercolour of a small portage on the Embarras River in wintertime, sketched during Back's return trip to Fort Enterprise after being dispatched back to Fort Chipewyan for supplies in winter of 1821.

This item consists of two pages (folio 44 verso and 45 recto) of a bound sketchbook, which can also be accessed in cover-to-cover form.

Availability of other formats note:

Colour transparency of the item before conservation is of the double page spread folio 44 verso and 45 recto (C-141439 and C-141440). These pages have also been copied as C-141575; C-145933 -- C-145935.
