Kaufmanis, Rusins, 1925-2019 : Rusins Kaufmanis was an editorial cartoonist employed by the Ottawa Citizen from 1969 to 1985. In this role he was well placed to use his considerable abilities as a draftsman to address both domestic and international events that resonated with the nation. Through the wide circulation of the Ottawa Citizen and through syndication with other newspapers, his illustrated commentary was enjoyed by a large segment of the Canadian population. Born in Riga, Latvia on March 27, 1925, he passed away on September 20, 2019 in Victoria, BC.
