It was created and supported by the Jewish community to provide aid to refugees and other Jewish Immigrants. The motto "From Immigrant to Citizen", embodies the aims of the organization and almost all Jewish immigrants who have come to Canada since World War I because they have benefited in one form or another from the services of J.I.A.S. These services include assistance to sponsors of immigrants, assistance in application procedures, travel arrangements, reception, relief and location services, education for citizenship, naturalization and integration programs.Additional information:General note:Original records were received in 1975 from the Jewish Immigrant Aid Services of Canada, Montreal, Que.
