Fonds consists of correspondence, Stanley Service manuscripts, memorabilia of Robert and Stanley Service with printed material.

The fonds also includes photographic material consisting of portraits of Stanley and Robert Service, their families and careers; group photograph of the Canadian Authors Association including Helen Service, Marius Barbeau and Madge MacBeth, Ottawa, 1938; group photograph of the Diabetes Association taken for the 25th anniversary of the discovery of insulin, Toronto, 1946; photograph of the Canadian author John Murray Gibson; photograph of the Robert Service homes in England and Monaco. Photographs are by E. Mackintosh, Photographic Stores Ltd., Alexis Alexanders, and Castor.

Service, Stanley F., 1891-1979 : Stanley Frederick Service, physician, author and brother of author Robert W. Service, was born in Scotland, lived in England as a child, and immigrated to Toronto as a teenager with his parents. He homesteaded briefly in Alberta, and later attended the University of Alberta. Following World War I, he resumed studies at McGill University. After working in a clinic in New York for ten years, Dr. Service settled in Ottawa in 1932.

He founded the Medical Literature Club, Ottawa, and published several articles in medical journals. He was also the author of numerous published poems, an unpublished novel and an unpublished autobiography.
