Fonds consists of correspondence, telegrams, memoranda, minutes of Board of Directors, financial statements and other documents, 1952 to 1959, related to efforts to obtain a new company president, and various directors, as well as shipbuilding and submarine building activity and various documents related to aircraft construction. Includes a paper on the "Development of Canadian Shipbuilding" by O.H. Barrett, President of Canadian Vickers Limited, in 1957. A major correspondent is the Viscount Knollys, Chairman, Vickers Limited, London, England.

The fonds also contains photographs, originally created from 1912-1967, showing interior and exterior views of the plant at Canadian Vickers Limited; industrial activities of Canadian Vickers Limited; construction and repair of warships, merchant ships, and aircraft, and fabrication of various types of heavy machinery and equipment.

The fonds also consist of plans of the ferry "William Carson".

Also consists of the film BIRTH OF A GIANT.

Canadian Vickers Limited : Canadian Vickers Limited was established in 1911 as a Vickers Limited subsidiary. It was active in the shipbuilding and aviation industry in Montreal.

General note:

Copied 1995 (originally created 1912-1967).
The photographic cards catalogue along with caption information and copy negative are kept in PDLC, room 6-17.

Custodial history:

The film was part of the CFI's Canadian Film Archive transfer to MISA on May 12, 1975. The collection name and accession number represent the original dono/deposit date to CFI.

Location of originals note:

Textual records copied in 1995 from originals at Cambridge University. The photographs were loaned to the National Archives of Canada, copied, and returned to the lender.
