In particular, Littman focused on members of the Ukrainian 14th Waffen-SS Division, Grenadier Division, commonly referred to as the Galician or Halychyna Division, resulting in his book "Pure Soldiers or Sinister Legion, Ukrainian Waffen SS Division", published in 2003. This material makes up the largest component of this fonds, and reflects Littman's focus on bringing to justice war criminals in Canada.
The material in this series includes:
¿ Documents from the Government of Canada, former Public Archives of Canada, the UK Public Records Office, the National Archives and Records Administration, the U.S. Department of Justice Office of Special Investigations Criminal Division, Soviet and east European archives, and the United Nations War Crimes Commission Archives regarding the entry of war criminals into Canada, Britain, and the U.S.
¿ Littman's Access to Information requests (including cleared documents) submitted to various Canadian federal government departments about alleged and convicted war criminals and Nazi collaborators living in Canada, including Imre Finta, Josef Kirschbaum, Dmytro Kupiak, Jacob Luitjens, Haralds Puntulis and Helmut Rauca, as well those who tried to gain entry, including Josef Mengele.
¿ Reports, correspondence, briefs and memoranda associated with Littman's work with Jewish organizations including: the B'nai Brith Canada League for Human Rights, Canadian Jewish Congress, Canadian Holocaust Remembrance Association, Network Canada, N-3 Fighters Against Racial Hatred and the Simon Wiesenthal Center.
¿ Correspondence, submissions from various individuals and organizations, newspaper clippings, published articles, reports and legal briefs relating to his involvement with the Commission of Inquiry on War Criminals in Canada, generally referred to as the Deschênes Commission.
¿ Littman's subject files on war crimes committed by auxiliary police units in many European countries, including: Croatia, Estonia, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia and Ukraine.
¿ Littman's extensive collection of materials about the Ukrainian 14th Waffen-SS Division and its wartime activities, including: information about its command structure and organization; membership rolls; newspapers; copies of its divisional diary; activities and members of the 31st SD Punitive Detachment and the Ukrainian Police Battalion 102; and atrocities committed in Polish and Slovak villages.
¿ Newspaper clippings, newsletters, published articles and correspondence that highlight relations between Jewish and Ukrainian communities (including the Ukrainian Canadian Committee and Ukrainian Civil Liberties Association) over the war crimes investigations
