Fonds consists of rolls of militia, loyalist units, military land grants and military correspondence, 1775-1830, compiled partially from material held by the NA; and notes on uniforms and colours of militia units, 1759-1819.

Irving, Lukin Homfray, 1855-1942 : Lukin Homfray Irving was the son of Sir Aemilius Irving, a lawyer, and his wife Augusta Louisa Gugy. He was educated in Galt, Ont., Switzerland, and the Royal Military College, Kingston. He entered the Ontario Civil Service in 1880 and was appointed assistant provincial deputy registrar in 1903. Irving was active in military affairs, serving as secretary of the Ontario Artillery Association and as a founder of the Canadian Military Institute in 1889. He also wrote extensively on Canadian Military history.
